Deportation/Removal

San Diego, California Deportation Lawyer

If you are a non-U.S. citizen in trouble with the federal government, The Law Office of Richard Stevenson can represent you in removal proceedings to prevent being deported to your home country or protect your ability to re-enter the United States in the future.

Our law firm serves all of San Diego County, representing permanent residents (green card holders), foreign nationals in the United States on a temporary visa, and undocumented aliens. Contact us immediately at (866) 587-7260 (Toll Free) if your immigration status is in danger.

Attorney Richard Stevenson can advise clients on immigration laws and how they apply to your immigrant status, or the situation of a United States citizen's spouse or family member who is not yet a naturalized citizen. We understand that deportation can tear families apart when persons are sent back to their country of origin.

Deportation (Removal) by Immigration and Customs Enforcement

Deportation is handled by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the law enforcement arm of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Mr. Stevenson advises clients and represents them in immigration courts. Reasons for deportation include:

  • Convictions or guilty pleas for certain crimes
  • Overstaying a visa
  • Illegal entry
  • False immigration documents
  • Fraudulent marriage to a U.S. citizen

We make every effort to fight deportation. When it cannot be avoided, we negotiate with immigration officials regarding future entry. For example, a resident alien may agree to leave the United States in exchange for dropping criminal charges. Though that person may be barred from re-entry for a number of years, it is better than being permanently barred.

Although Mr. Stevenson does not practice in criminal defense, he can advise on the immigration consequences of criminal charges. In some cases, it may be necessary to fight the charges at trial or negotiate with prosecutors to reduce charges to a non-deportable guilty plea.

We understand that the threat of removal is a scary experience. Every situation is unique. Contact The Law Office of Richard Stevenson to learn your rights and discuss your legal options. We offer a free initial consultation and flat fees for representation.
